It all depends on how much boost he's running, not his exhaust.

100% stock, the SVO would beat a '95 GT, You have a few bolt on's and he has a few bolt on's, but, if he turns up the boost, he can add 15-20% more power very easily.

200 hp stock, but add a t3/t4 hybrid turbo and port the manifolds and you have 300+

They are light too, they probably have at least a 300lb weight advantage compared to a 95, possibly more.

I've owned two of them. And yes, the exhaust does have alot to do with them. It really wakes the turbo up. The 3" down pipe will make it spool up faster. I think he will take you if he is a decent driver. You don't have to upgrade the turbo, a $10 fishtank bleed valve will up the boost to around 20 and then gut the intake. Sorry dude but I don't think its going to be nice. Let us know how it turns out.

everyone seems to have a low opinion of our 5.0s I don't understand it...just as with any car the speed of our 5.0s really depend on the driver...I am sure that you could easily roast and svo if you're a good driver....I mean really anyone can drive any car fast....I have heard of people running 14 second 1/4 miles with stock 95 gt's so really it just depends on you..

Not everyone has a low opinion of the 302, they have set the bar for performance for a long time. The svo is also a ford product, took the 5.0's place for a few years (in car comparisons between GM and ford). Great cars...pretty much bulletproof blocks. Stock internals are forged and can take a good beating way above 300 rwhp. Read up on the history of the svo, pretty awesome! the prototype 87? svo (the year ford canceld the svo division...which is the precursor to the SVT now) was a dohc 2.3turbo rated around 270hp...mind you this is 1987...getting any bells or wistles of what this reminds you of? perhaps ...the srt-4...evo...sti, except 15 years before they were released! lol anyways.... 4bangerturbo fords and v8 cars are just as good in my mind, fast is fast. btw mostly stock svo's (with the pe-series and browntop injectors) witha 3inch exhuast and very little work easily achieve over 300rwtq. lots of dyno sheets to show so...check out turboford.org

Sorry Seth, not true. I used to launch my O at 5500 rpm off the line and eat GT's up from red light to red light. It was 3rd gear that the SVO's were weak, once I got through 3rd into 4th it was on again. They are lacking midrange power. Don't get me wrong, I sold both my SVO's to get my 94 GT and I don't regret it. I have owned five 5.o's and I love them but the SVO is a bad little car with a few small upgrades it is a force to be reconed with. Pull up beside one or a Merkur that has standard bolt on mods and you will soon understand.

Its not that people don't have faith in 302's its just that turboed cars are pretty quick. Remember they have more top end then bottom end. I think you will be beat if he has any extra boost running through the 2.3

The SVO's sound pretty good too. Unlike some of the other turbo'd four bangers out there.
Theres a Merkur xr4ti around here that is riced out(ugly paint, wing, spiunning 10 in hubcaps, etc.). The thing might be riced out, but it is pretty quick.
