Hello all, I have a 96 Cobra (build date 10/95) and I need to locate a replacement dipstick tube. I called Ford and the part is discontinued. There are two versions apparently, and the one I need bolts to the valve cover.

Are there any aftermarket or old-parts vendors I can check with? My tube was badly kinked by the last owner when they installed headers, oh well. I can barely get the dipstick in/out.

I really appreciate any help. Thanks, Dan

Just throwing some suggestions out there...

Have you tried our classified section yet ?

- Mustang Classifieds at StangNet

If nobody has a spare one in there (or on other msg boards), you could try contacting one of the many Stangnet site sponsors / vendors.

You'll get "hit-or-miss" results with some of the Ford dealership parts counters - try calling several in your area to see if any of them might have that part in-house. FWIW - the parts guys over at Tousley Ford (in MN) are very helpful IMHO; have used them in the past for locating parts. Give them a Google search to find their contact info.

G'luck.

I had the same problem > I ordered the tube for a 03/04 mustang cobra >my car is a 98 cobra> the tube is just sitting in the block not bolted to the motor headers are in the way but it's working fine for me > they have diffrent part numbers but they are the same part > hope this helps>
don't run your car without a tube your car will use crazy amount of oil and you won't even know it !!! mine burned 3 Qt's in 200 mile > good thing I had a 7- qt pan on my motor > after the tube was put in the block car has burn none
