Hi i just purchased a 96 GT and it has a bad vibration that comes in about 40/45 55/60 it gets worse! If you push in the clutch its still there. You can feel it in the shifter and NOT in the steering wheel which makes me think its NOT tire related.. Also you can rev the engine to any rpm at those speeds and it makes no diffrence in the vibration so i dont think its engine related.. Any idea's on this would be greatly appreceated! U-joints?? driveshaft??? where is a good place to start? tranny mount?? its really bad and i want to fix it asap!

Well, it could be a number of things but I'd check the DS/u-joints first. Trans mount is possible ... Inspect your driveshaft to see if the weights came off or if your DS has any dents in it. If none of that seems out of wack then it can get tricky and even be your motor mounts and that type stuff ... check the DS first.

FWIW, the shifter should vibrate some...

Figured out my mystery vibration... front u-joint $15 no biggie... Thanks for the info.. Car is bone stock so far... Need a cat-back one of the factory mufflers is blown... Ordered a cai... Also going to add a short throw shifter and UD pulleys..

That's good to know man:flag: CAI, exhaust, short shifter and pullies should be a nice addition to your car:nice:

I really dont want 4.10 gears as i like to get descent mileage... I get 22 beating the snot out of it as it is... Also have a code 1443 (i believe) somthing about the evap?? any idea what that is?? it comes and goes (cel)

It has something to do with your Aux Emission Control. Ford On Board Diagnostics II, (OBD II) code P1443 means that the evaporative emissions charcoal canister purge sensor did not detect any flow when the canister should have been purging into the engine intake system

Here's the site

As for the gears, it won't be that great of a difference on mpg. It all depends on your right foot:D It's a great mod and I guarantee that you love it since you mash on it. Assuming you drive a lot in the city.

Car will see about 60/65 miles highway daily so gears arent sounding like a very good idea...

Don't mean to pressure you but what about 3.73's then? That's what I have and it does good on the freeway for me. I drive 75mph on the freeway for about 65 miles to school and another 65 miles back, so a total of 130 miles a day. It revs about 2800 rpm at 75. But if your worried about it it's cool, it's just a great mod for our cars.

:stupid: Oh yeah forgot that too:nice:

why do I have to be stupid lol? I was getting the 1443 cel when my maf was bad oddly enough. I checked all the vacuum hoses the purge canister and all the rest of the evap stuff (including gas cap) and nothing. When I got my new maf it went away  and as far as gas mileage with 4.10s I didn't see a real change

 Sorry man. I was just agreeing with you about the 4.10's:p

I have a 5 speed not an auto.. I was just saying that auto gears would probably be an upgrade.. BTW U-joints made the stang like a new car again and i actually picked up alot of power! driveshaft must have really been out of wack!
