97-98 COBRA or 00-02 GT

A good friend of mines has finally decided to get a Mustang. He's torn between getting a 97-98 COBRA or 00-02 GT. They are both about the same price with a 1000 dollar plus or minus depending on which car he choses. Can you guys provide me with the pros and cons on the late model GT or the older Cobra

Cobra
-32V DOHC V8 that revvs to 7000rpm, keeps on pulling and has very good potential
-Faster, ~30-50rwhp more stock.
-Better braking
-IMO better looking body style
-Cobra/SVT uniqueness

00-02 GT
-Newer


If he can get a low mileage Cobra he should go for it. IMO its a much better choice all around unless he wants a newer car.

The only thing the Cobra has that I'd want is the engine... I like they're body styles but I prefer the 99 and newer to that body style.

I agree with matto, i would take the GT as long as it was a 5 speed, now a 99 cobra would be a different story for me.

Are they both stock? What year GT? There are some differences in the motor and tranny from 00 - 02.

Cobras made a year: ~7,000. GT's made a year: 500,000,000

you can get a descent low mileage 02 GT for not much more than 10-12 grand. A low mileage cobra would run you mroe than that I would think.

I think it boils down to what body style. I would go for a 99 cobra personally. You can get those for high teens I would think,
