97 cobra dies right after start up.....

My 1997 mustang cobra dies right after I start it up. Literally like 3 seconds later. It revs up then the RPM drops to Zero. If I catch it and give it gas then it stays on. But I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal. If I let go of the gas pedal it dies. The car doesn't stutter or shake or anything. It just dies.

Any idea what could be wrong?

IAC - Idle Air Controller?

I had an 01 GT and it wouldn't hold an idle. This was my problem... Run a search on IAC, it seems to be a common problem..

It's a place to start...

quick question.... does autozone have the part? I couldn't find it on their website. How much does it run and where can I get one?

a lot of times it just needs to be cleaned. I've come across many threads on where to locate it and how to clean it. If you can't find it here, try the other forums like mu stangforums. com . If you still cant find them, I'll try to track down the thread for you...

Hey I found the thread with the guide. Thanks alot it worked. I went ahead and replaced it and it works now.
