Hey all. I have been away for a bit but would like to give y'all an update on my project. Yanked the motor out and had it sent to our machine shop. All checked out and I decided to give the thing some extra love. I added forged pistons and forged rods along with ARP fasteners. I have always wanted to have a turbo 4.6 and was wondering what kind of boost I can run with this set up.

Yes sir. I read what you said about the cast cranks being used on the MMR motors. Mine checked out at the machine shop so I put it back in. Just have 4340 forged H-beam rods and forged pistons

I had the machine shop do it. I just wanted to be sure that everything checked out and was balanced correctly. I will be putting the rest of the motor together at my shop after hours :) I am still deciding if I want a single turbo or twins. I am new to the forced induction game. I can now finally throw some money at my car. I have had this 97 since high school lol. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I have the PI heads at the machine shop now getting new beefy valve springs and new one piece manley valves. Can't wait to get those back

I am going with twins and am still learning myself. I've had a supercharger in the past, but this is my first adventure into turbos. You are a step ahead of me with the short block. I have my turbos sitting in a box waiting but am not in a big rush to get the short block built because I have shoulder surgery tomorrow. Such is life!

Did they polish and balance your crank? I'm assuming from your username you're in Alabama?

They did polish and balance the crank. Nice and clean :) This 97 has been completely stock on the motor besides the PI intake I added years ago. I have never dabbled with the forced induction. I can't wait haha. My 4.6 had 300k on it so a fresh rebuild with the forged internals was a no brainer. Don't want to sling a rod after all this work. I am actually in Georgia, but my parents went to college at Alabama.
