98 DOHC motor

Hello all. I have a 98 GT and soon will be doing a transplant from the SOHC to the DOHC. I plan to stick with the 96-98 year motors just because it's basically a straight forward swap with fuel, ignition, and wiring. My question is, are there any benefits from getting a 98 motor over the 96-97. Someone told me ford did some improvements to the 98 motor and computer. Any thoughts?

Nope...pretty much same engine, same computer...the only real differences are that all 98's had the more desirable composite (plastic) IMRC's where the 96's and most 97's had aluminum IMRC's...Also, the 98's had a different EGR setup on them so if you get long tubes they might hook up different...

They say the tune on the 98s is different in the computer but it's really negligable...
