:bang: I have A 98 GT with 110,000 mi., and it started getting a clacking noise from the valves only at start-up. otherwise she runs great. the shop said that that is normal for high mileige cars. I am worried its doing damage if I dont fix it. Any info would help.

No the opposite, if the car sit for a while it wont do it.
I think it has something to do with the oil pump because its only on a cold start. But thats just a guess.

thats what i asked.. if you let the car sit overnight or for a extended time does it do it.. so i assume that if you shut it off warm then restart it's fine..

first try too use a MOTORCRAFT fitler.. then if that dont fix it look at the cam chain tensioners..

What weight oil are you using?

To thick oil won't travel through the engine as fast when its cold.
