99 2v hesitation/shaking at WOT

Like the title says, under roughly 3/4's to WOT the Mustang hesitates and shakes the whole car (I can feel it thru the shifter and my seat) then starts accelerating from there....

It wasnt doing this last nite, but I went WOT 1st and 2nd without the motor at operating temperature (on for roughly 5 minutes) and started feeling this.

Is it drivetrain (clutch, clutch cable related)?

Or fuel delivery or something as simple as a dirty MAF or filter?

Oil change and filter along with a K&N recharge are going to be done this upcoming Saturday BTW...

Going WOT before the engine came up to temp probably did not help. Never EVER do that.

It won't hurt to clean the MAF. It could also be your fuel filter but I doubt it. I'd think that if it were your fuel filter then it would hesitate throughout the gears. Check your tranny fluid .....

Now, it doesnt do it in every gear, if it was motor related wouldnt it do it whenever im accelerating no matter the speed? No weird sounds are heard at idle either....or revving up at idle...

If it does not do it in every gear more likely it is drivetrain rather than engine. How many miles on your clutch and who installed it?

So you think it is spark related. Perhaps water or coolant in the plug wells? That is easy enough to check...

yeah, it may not show-up at idle as bad but as load(and speed) increases, resistance increases and mis-fire can occurr

Could it also be driveshaft/motor mount related...thats what a Honda buddy suggested...

Im currently babying it as I have no other ride and trying to avoid putting the car through that stress...im prolly gonna go take a day off of work to have my trusty mechanic take a look at it....

And as for water/coolant in the plug wells wouldnt that burn off? I havent touched the plugs or topped off coolant since way before this started happening...

We have 2 winners! It has been narrowed down to a spark issue.

More than likely it is the coil that was replaced by the previous owner with non Motorcraft stuff...

Thanks guys...I figured to pull out the plugs and am taking them to get tested...I already swapped in a new set of plugs and the car is fine!
