I am looking at a 99 cobra i may be buying and i just want to know how i go about finding out if it has been back to Ford and had "the fix". It doesnt indicate anything on carfax report... should it?? or how do i find out
You can run an oasis report and see if that tells you. Usually that lists all repairs the vehicle has recieved. Or you can just take a look. If "The Fix" was performed on your 99 you will have a dot on the driver side front corner of your intake manifold with a green dot representing acid dipped and a blue dot if your intake was extrude honed.
The best way to verify is to do a visual inspection, as mentioned above. You may also call up SVT at 1-800-ford-svt and inquire via the VIN. The folks at SVT should be able to tell you whether or not that VIN has received the "fix" or not.
