just wondering if anyone out there has had this problem if so i would love some advice on what to do. i was going to do a burn out and as soon as i let the clutch out all i heard wa a loud bang the car would still go in to all gears but would only move very slightly of you feather the clutch and it made a god awfull noise. took it to a shop and they said it was the tranny they put in the air went through all the gears and it ran fine but as soon as they put a load on it ,it did the same thing. so i put a new t56 trans in it it still did the same thing . so now they took the rear apart and said that maybe a clutchplate in the differential was sticking. i have no idea whats going on so if anyone has had the same problem or something similer please im begging you let me no i havent had my car in over a month and its driving me nuts thanks

You sure it wasn't a halfshaft. It will not move if one is snapped.

Yes it would move if he'd snapped one half shaft becasue he has a traction lock rear end. Maybe he snapped both of them...hard to imagine though. My guess is something went awry in the rear end.

Ok..why wouldn't it move?

If it's a broken half shaft would they not see it when they changed his tranny?

I snapped one, I know. If you snap a halfshaft you are not going anywhere... Our cars have a limited slip rearend, and the side thats broken will sit there and freespin. Mine did the same thing as his. Wheel hop twice then bang, end of halfshaft, end of drag strip run. It went in every gear fine but it wouldn't go anywhere. I had to get my dad to load it on his car trailer and tow it home.

I great way to tell if it was anything in the tranny would be to have someone look under the car while you put it in gear and take your foot off the clutch. If the drive shaft moves then the transmition is fine.

All the symptoms point to a broken half-shaft. Depending on where it broke it may not be real obvious.

Unless you plan on racing it go with another set of the stockers. There are much stronger half shafts available, but they are expensive, and are made for the 03/04 which would require you to upgrade the differential I believe.

I went with the stock halfshaft from Ford. They are $533.00 dollers from Ford unless you go here
http://www.parts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213787

They sell their halfshafts at retail and I got mine for around $390.00. They more than likely won't have one in stock, and will have to order it from Ford. Good Luck bud.
