99 gt intake manifold problems

the other night i was driving around and after runnin my car hard i smelled antifreeze pretty strong. i got back to my house and i noticed as my rpms went up, i could see the antifreeze beginning to leak out from behind the alternator onto the block but when it idled it did nothing. i was told by a ford mechanic that it was the intake manifold leaking and that there was a recall on it. after lookign into the recall he told me my model 1999 GT was not covered in the recall for whatever reason. Well im not the wealthiest kid on earth so the $651.00 will really hurt me if i have to buy a new one from www.GEFRACING.com. Does anyone have any ideas/ suggestions for me?

Not sure where the $651 comes from. This is the intake you need and you can easily change it yourself to save on install charges.

Mine did that and it turned out to be bad gaskets. I got a new intake for stangstore.com and it was like $300 and the gaskets are like $20 a peice. make sure that the gasket is good before you goo buy a new intake cause I didnt even need mine.. Sorry to hear about your troubles man I feel for you. Get the problem fixed before the coolant makes its way down the spark plug hole then you need new boots and plugs Thanks ford for yet another screw the customer>>>

New (PI) intake gaskets where they seal to the heads, some new coolant is all that you should need to fix. When you confirm that it is indeed your intake that is leaking, don't forget to place your vote here........

Isnt there a coolant hose that runs through the engine valley under the intake, could it be lose or have a hole in it. Maybe this is where he is losing fluid

Not likely as the tube is made of metal and is stationary. More than likely, the plastic is cracked, but yes try and be as sure as possible so that you don't spend money on non-necessary repairs.

If you need a new2 lower intake, there are a couple places to get them new for about 150. here is one.

http://www.daves-mustang-parts.com/
you should only need gaskets and maybe the t-stat o-ring.
