'99 Stang

My friend has a V6 stang that i think is a 1999 or a 2000, I was just wondering what tranny these cars come stock with as I am looking at what kind of short shifter he should get. I am going to suggest a MGW/Pro 5.0, and i read somewhere that these cars came with a T5...is that true?
