the a/c clutch isn't staying engaged while its turned on. it comes on every say 3-5 seconds, goes for maybe 5 seconds then shuts off. any advice?? only blowing hot air, tryed to put freon in, seemed to take some in while it was engaging but still not working. any ideas why it won't run constant and blow cold?

How much 134a did you put in it? It might need a full recharge which would be about 2 cans. If it is empty it will cycle like you are describing. Make sure you have the A/C set as cold as it will go with Max A/C turned on. Hook it up and just let it run. The more 134a it pulls in, the longer the cycles will be. When it is full, it won't pull anymore 134a and the A/C clutch will stay engaged.

The potential exists to overfill the system and damage the compressor. Be mindful and follow the directions in your manual. If you don't have one, you may want to consider taking it to a service center.

yes, i put 2 cans in. what the manual said, the guage was in the red the whole time, even when the clutch was engaging, so not sure what the problem was i know it was going into the system because both cans were empty afterwards, still shutting on and off though.

Here's the problem. If there was no pressure in the system before you serviced it then moisture (any amount) that was allowed into it would instantly freeze.

If that's even a possibility, then the system needs to be vacuumed down, new oil put into it, and serviced back up by a technician with the correct tools to do it.

Additionally, they'll be able to check for obvious leaks and also put in a dye to help detect small ones.
