What about the rubber boot that goes around the base of the shifter? I had to cut that. I guess they will know it has been messed with.

There should have been no reason to cut anything, the stock shifter comes completely off the transmission will 4 bolts holding down the cover plate (which is what I think you cut) and then another 4 bolts holding the shifter down. You then re-install in the reverse with your aftermarket shifter.

I just installed a UPR shifter on my car a couple days ago. I didn't have to cut anything, not sure why you would have to.

What is the latest concerning the TSB?

Bringing post up from the grave haha, so i bought my mustang last week and i noticed that there is a difference in how it shifts from 1-2 but this is my first manual car i have ever driven. So 1. Was this fix actually released? 2. How do i know if my car has had this "fix" performed (as i have no idea how shifting is suppose to be, i thought the rough engagement was normal i have to shift really slow). Any up to date knowledge on the issue, i think the last reply said it was from 2004? haha i have a 2004 mustang GT thanks guys!

I don't think it was ever released as a recall but just a TSB (technical service bulletin).. I would assume the dealer would know if it was done and have a dealer wide record but I'm not positive.

Even after mine was done its still notchy, especially when cold but much better than the grind I used to get beforehand. The T3650 is not a real smooth shifting transmission, especially with an aftermarket shifter.

You can always bring it in and have them check to see if it was done. I don't remember the TSB number but it may be somewhere in this thread.

Ask the dealer to run your VIN through OASIS and see if it comes up as done.

Hey guys thanks for the reply, but i am wondering. I have a 2004 mustang gt, the TSB only lists up to 2003, do i have a different transmission?

Its the same transmission but maybe they fixed the issue in 2004? I doubt it though. I think they still use the 3650 in the newest Mustangs as well.
