The car has coil overs on it, that was the first time it had been out of the shop, since then it has been raised up 3/4" or so. Car has been mini tubbed and some front end work for it to sit that low.

I didnt mean the Cobra R thing in a mean way, I just would not go with Cobra Rs on a 5-lug swapped car. I think the SSRs look a lot better than the Cobra Rs on the red car there.

I was just kinding around throughout this whole post. 
I really could care less if someone does not like the R's. It's all a matter of opinion, and this is just the internet.
I personally like the Cobra R's. When I first got my car in '97, I would just stare at magazines that featured cars with them. I now wish Ford would have stuck with their original plan and not offered the wheel in 4 lug. Now everyone has them. But it would have happened anyway with replica companies pimping these rims out like a $2 hooker. I called Ford Racing back then and asked how I could get some of the center caps. The sales rep said easy, send us a copy of the reciept from the sale of authentic Ford rims and they would sell me as many caps as I wanted for $20 a piece. When I asked why I needed a reciept, the sales rep said Ford was doing everything it could to not "cheapen" their wheels by giving everyone and the mama's the caps for knock off wheels. Well, I know understand the logic. A great wheel that everyone wanted on their car has now become a used and abused cookie cutter that has become a joke in this industry.
I wish people could see the beauty of the authentic R58 or M179 wheel, and refuse to buy the ugly imitations that are out there. AFS makes one of the ugliest 5 lug version I have seen. The spokes make angles that the original wheel does not. And we won't even talk about the 4 lug version. Hideous. It is still a rarity to see the OG Ford versions on a car.
With that said, I would still like to get a different style wheel. I will always keep the R's, but it would be nice to see something else on my car. It would have to be an 18" rim with some sort of lip. I almost pulled the trigger on the Saleens, but even those are starting to get played out. (sorry Tunedin - if it's any conselation, noone can pull it off as well as you have with your car) The only other wheel that is reaching $2 whore status more than the R's and Saleens, is the FR500's. Christ I have seen too many of these in my day. Will a company please come out with something new!

Your car will look even better with the SSR wheel. I'm with you on the Cobra R, when they were released, they were the coolest thing ever! Its the 4 luggers that ruined it. I know you have Cobra brakes already, are they the regular black calipers? Painting or powdercoating the fronts and rears red would look real good. Even if you dont get them, your car is still way nicer than 90% of cars on here, so keep it up.

I have the stock Ford black/dark grey calipers. I never thought the red calipers would look good on a red car. I though the body of the car would drown out the caliper and make it look tacky. I knew the red caliper on a black car looked killer, because of the contrast. I think I have officially changed my mind. I did a little photoshop of the R's with the red calipers. I like it. They will be red by the next time the car see the street.

I know ........ that is only one reason I HATE the replica companies and the people that support them. The Faleen and Fobra wheels are here to stay. I'll buy your Cobra Rs - have always liked those wheels - but then again I wear Voit sneakers on a daily basis.
