So i goto the shop to get my subframes welded on and they call me at work and tell me that they cant put them on because my torque boxes are destroyed and my frame or something is cracked all the way across and I have to goto a chassis shop to have it all welded back together and have new torque boxes installed, then they can install the subframes. They said this was due to just driving the car hard. Hard shifting and launching just ripped the car apart. I dont know how much this is going to cost to fix, but I can imagine its not going to be cheap. If anyone else has had this done (which im sure people on here have) please let me know what it cost to fix yours and anyone that doesnt yet have re-inforced torque boxes or subframes installed, you might want to think about that before your next engine mod. :nonono: :(

Been there, done that on a couple cars. Did one that was torn apart like your's, took about 8 hours to do, just removed the seats and rolled the carpet up on the console and wire wheeled each rusty spot on the floot and founf about a million little cracks and some bigger ones. Not real difficult, just time consuming. The torque boxes were beat up and torn too. Just took a little while to clean them up and then weld themback together. Think I charged the guy around $200 to do the work and he was amazed at how much different the car handled, then I welded in a set of connectors and he hearly flipped it was so much better.

FYI, I've done almost 100 sets in the last few years.

Do you work on Saturdays? My car is in good shape with no visable cracks and the boxes look great. I have subs and TB reins and I would like someone who knows what they're doing to install them. I'd also like the brackets on the axle double welded and reinforced.

ME TOO

I have some ET Streets now, with lift-style LCA's, I am going to get TQ box reinforcements before my first launch on the slicks. Prevention always costs less than repair.

... of course you hear/see the guy launching on slicks, dropping it at 6K, with no reinforcements anywhere, but then you hear/see the guy that tore the car apart with a 4 banger auto too....
