a simple beginner question, new owner

well accufab is probably the best combo, although you will pay the price for it. others on this site will agree, as far as the hp gains im sure someone will have some dyno info for you,

the 70mm vs. 75mm debate is ongoing with no real answer. 70 for n/a and 75 for s/c is a very popular rule around here, but ive also seen dyno claims that 70/75 yielded the same numbers. personally, i'd get a KB and bypass the problem all together.

of course, our wallets dont always allow that. keep doing some research on it and im sure you'll come to a better understanding of what you need for your specific application. and yes, accufab is the best performing brand, and yes, its been dyno proven. MD did a plenum dyno shootout and the Accufab came out on top over the dragon, trick flow and C&L. all done with an accufab 75mm TB by the way. heres a link

keep in mind, although the accufab did post best numbers, it was by only 1.25 hp over the C&L and 3.15 ft lbs over the dragon. so, you have to decide if that small of a difference is worth the extra cash? also for your second question, if you look at the bottom of that chart, the 75mm TB AND Plenum only yielded a 6.31hp/6.88 ft lbs over the stock TB and Plenum, so its hard to believe that a TB alone could yield 9 hp. not saying it isnt possible, just hard to believe based on MD's test results.

personally i'd go with the same setup that i went with... the dragon 75mm TB and matching plenum (two different ones made) coupled with the tunable inductions (also known as Demolet) CAI. from my research the dragon posted the best for the money and the TI CAI i have seen post better then the JLT RAI which everyone says is the best.... I am quite happy with my setup as it really didnt cost much, and had noticable gains with all 3. if you are interested in this combo let me know, and i can show you the best place to get em.

as far as the 75vs70, yes its always going to be an ongoing debate, nobody is ever happy with one decision. the old school vs new school conflict a lot when it comes to the 4.6, so there will always be arguements. the price was the same on the 70 vs 75, so i opted for the 75 after seeing a slight gain in the upper mid range on 1-2 dynos (few, but enough to make me go 75 over 70)

also, most plenums will work with the 65mm tb unless they are made for the 75mm (i think C&L and dragon have a plenum for each application). as far as saving money, maybe. if you plan to supercharge, or really, do any higher end mods (long tube headers, cams, heads, etc) i'd go ahead and go to the 75. But then, that is my personal preference. I'm hard up on cash, but it seemed the most economical to me for longer run mods.

but anyway, i think that was a great tech article! still doesnt quite solve the 70mm vs 75mm debate, but nontheless very informative.

thats true no matter what the 70vs.75mm TB/ plenum bttle will never be solved just go with what ever you think will work for you
