A Strange Noise thread

Sorry for the topic, but it's starting to worry me.

1) So I've got an 01GT Automatic with only 35,000 miles on it. In only 1st gear, before it changes to 2nd, it has this rattling sound. Sounds almost like exhaust chattering. I've taken it to Ford and they couldn't find it, to Express Oil and they couldn't find it, and I can't find it. They even jerked around on the exhaust.

It sounds as if it's coming from the engine bay or around the tranny. The sound disappears after 1st gear. It used to come and go, but now it rattles all the time.

Anyone have the same problem???



2) Also, about 2 weeks ago I noticed when I punch it in traffic it sounds like valves rattling for a split second... Anyone got an idea on that? I've been through 2 tanks of gas since I noticed it.

I can't help your issue but can say that I too have a wierd noise coming from what sounds like right behind my firewall between shifts at low speeds. Almost like a loose washer on a bolt. wierd
