A buddy of mine and myself spent the whole day just trying to get my '87 5.0 to start. We had changed out the timing chain, got the timing right where it needed to be. Then we checked the fuel pressure, timing and EVERYTHING there is too check and the car sounds SO CLOSE to cranking up but can reach it. Any tips? :(

Yep, we checked for spark, and we certainly do, and we checked the fuel relay, and fuel pump, check ALL the wiring. We triple checked the timing chain and the timing itself to make sure that we were indeed not 180 degrees off, and still nothing. The plugs didnt look fouled either, but I guess Im gonna replace them all anyway just for giggles since we are totally out of ideas. ...In a situation like this would it help any to pull some codes?

See Jrichker's cranks but no start list.

If the plugs were dry, that's a sign. I'd want to confirm that you have injector pulsing. If not, ensure the TPS is not reading above ~ 3.71 volts - this would shut the injectors off while cranking.

Good luck.

The timing chain was just really old, And it was missing really badly. So we started there, and worked our way around, put new plug wires in, and we double & triple checked everything ya know, compression, timing fuel, spark, it's so weird. But if I ahve bent valves doesnt that mean the engine pretty much shot?
