About aftermarket crossover pipes..

I have a 96 GT and I'm considering getting either a high flow H or X pipe. The thing is I don't want the off road versions because my car is a daily driver and I still have to take it to have the emissions test done every year. The question is, if I buy a high flow catted X or H pipe about how much increase of power will I see and about how much louder will it be? I know considering that it's not an o/r it won't be quite as loud as an o/r. Right now I'm running Flowmaster 1 chambers. Any advice or help would much be appreciated. :nice:

The X will provide more power increase than an H. Both have different sound characteristics. X is more exotic, like a race car, while the H is more thunder as in a musclecar. You won't see all that much increased HP but SOTP (seat of the pants) power/performance increase and yes, it will get somewhat louder than stock with the high flow cats but not quite as loud as non-catted midpipes. Usually when you're running Flowmasters, you're tending to lean towards the Musclecar tone which the H pipes lean more towards.
