Anyone have any videos of before and after stall converters?...how exactly do they work?..will it only stall if I brake and rev it or if I just hit it from a stop will it immediately rev to the stall?...wont the tires just brake loose if my car is taking off at 3200 or so?

What we have in the ol' 4R70W is a lock-up TC, therefore once the car gets moving at a decent speed it locks up and doesnt "stall" any further. A vid of before and after (im assuming of the tach) wont really give you an idea of the difference. When i got my 3200 stall in all i notcied was at idle it moved a tid bit slower and it took a minute amount of more gas at part throttle to get it to 5mph than before. Basically you want a stall that is rated about 400 rpm's lower than your peak torque. But dont assume it's going to blip uo to 3200 before you start moving, that's not what the rating means. If you were on a medium hill, in 2nd gear barely moving then goosed the throttle, the rpm's would fly up a bit before you moved and it should be around 2900-3200 in this case. But when just driving around it wont "stall" to get moving. Your really only notice the difference when launching the car, pretty much the beauty of having a TC. I lost no gas milage btw.

and uh.... USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION this has been talked about 11ty times

CobraRed, before you replaced your TC did your tranny have a whine/hum to it when the car warmed while driving? Mine does and its been a mystery...My friend has it in his 96 GT Vert as well but his isnt as loud as mine...The hum/whine doesnt effect performance on the car just annoying lol...

symptoms...going down hill you can hear it get lil louder, going up hill u barely hear it at all...driving on the highway medium...Just wondering if you had the same problem?

any whine i heard was from my gears, and it's pretty much a light humm. Sounds like if you know its comming from underneath you in ur tranny then it could just be old seals, bearings, steels, or unseated clutches. Doesn't sound like a big problem to me, after 11 years stuff begins to get unseated/imbalanced. A good way to check if it's a bad sound is to start the car and let it warm up, then take a long funnel and stick it in the dip stick line then put your ear to it. Then put the tranny in drive and set the parking brake and listen to it again, anything thats happening constantly like a soft humming is fine, if the sound is galloping then somethings off. If you have any queations PM me, I've gotten fairly close to the 4R70W lately, lol.
Are you feeling vibrations?

The reason i rebuilt the tranny (+ some goodies) was cuz i was having torque converter clutch problems which caused shuddering in low rpm's around 35-45mph. Also the 1-2 shift would want wait till 200rpm's past redline at WOT and just generally took too long in a normal shifting which was caused from a poor/broken 1-2 accumulator spring.

No there isnt any vibrations at all, just a whine/hum while driving the car...If i rev it up in Neutral you dont hear it at all...Its just underload...like i said before, it doesnt effect shifting or anything of that nature..Just irritating when you drive a long period of time...Basically all i want to hear is just exhaust not that plus exhaust...lol

Ahhh you know what the whine sound like...a very faint supercharger from an 03 ahaha...thats the way i can describe..but its not loud at all..only audible inside the car while driving it...

Oh yeah if i get off the gas and just coast down a street i dont hear it at all...so im guessing something is worn out in there to be causing that...

hmm, that sounds rather harmless. If you wish tho, have it checked for free by a place like AAMCO who does free diagnostic, have them tell you everything they think it is then post it here so you don't get BS'd. Could be the torque converter, i've heard stators that went out that sounded like humming.

I guess this is talk now?..........so.......comaro's suck:rlaugh:

Some of the 4R70W valve bodies are noisy. The sound can be described as a whine.
