I have done some searching on here and really haven't found any info on this motor. Has anyone on here ever use the motor in a 94-95 car. Any info would be great. I am trying to replace my old stock motor and this motor is the only one I could find that would give me a boost in power over stock and is not to pricey. thanks for the info in advance

unless there is something seriously wrong with the stock engine, i wouldnt replace it. Most people dont get crate engines. The 302 is pretty tough, and mine has 140,000 miles on it, and runs and drives like new. All cylinders have perfect compression too. If you need a new engine, just rebuild what you have, save some money.

There are ways to upgrade power without spending the money on that overpriced crate engine. I have GT-40p heads i got for super cheap, and have a nice increase over stock. Along with my explorer intake, and cam, i'm hoping for 300rwhp.

CHP sells assembled 306 short blocks for $1500. If you could do the H/C/I install yourself you would have a better, more powerful engine for about the same price as the gt40 crate motor.

you can do a rebuild yourself...rings...bearings...heads...cam...intake...:D

how many miles are on your car? And who's car doesnt burn a quart of oil between changes? unless you have 500,000+ miles, and are burning more than 1 quart between changes, i would spend the money on a nice H/C/I

and uses about 2-3 qt's a month.
I am very lazy as well.

I'd say the crate motor would be a good choice if you're wanting to swap engines with the least amount of effort possible. Im sure you can get more hp for the same $$$ if you build it yourself, tho.

You may need to replace the timing cover and water pump off the crate engine with your stock pieces, but Im not sure about that. I know the 94-95's use a different TC and WP than the fox's. The distributor is also different on the 94-95's, but I think everything else will work.

I had a gt40 crate motor in my old car a couple years ago.. It had the gt40x heads, and B cam. I also added 1.72 rockers to get a lil more lift outa the cam.

I liked the motor, i went [email protected] on nitto DR's, with a 1.702 60ft. I had 3.90 gears, typhoon intake mani, shorty headers and all the other bolt ons. Best MPH was 109.99, but i had skinnies on that run.

I got the motor used for around 800 bucks with minimal miles. I dont think i would ever pay full price for one.. Id go the chp, or dss route or something to that affect like someone mentioned above.

Any questions just ask.....

The gt40 crate motor is not gonna be a real power house if that is what you want to end up with.

Why not just find a good rebuilt short block and start from there.

Maybe you can put together more bang for the buck with a solid short block, and add the h/c/i of your choice.

I have not priced those motors you see in all the hot rod mags in a long time to be fair but seems you could do better IIRC.

see here is the thing I am lazy and I don't have the time to build a motor. I don't really want a big power house motor but I would like something more than what I got now(stock woreout motor). because maybe I will sell it in a few years.
also I live at home and all I spend my money on is cars anyway

Check out CHP (www.coasthigh.com). They have some pretty stout long blocks (minimal more work that a crate motor) and crate engines too. Plus, I have heard some say those Ford crate motors are really not that much more powerful than your stock engine. And you could go stoker for about the same cost as a 306, and get the added cubes.

Check out their web site, then call them. They are pretty helpful to talk to, and could make sure you get the right setup for your goals.

well let me give you some reinforcement then. it is a nice boost over the stock 215 hp motor. its no killer, but it is a ford built reliable 302 that will drop right in. u will only need to swap your pan, timing cover, wp, intake, etc. from the old engine, but those are easy things to do. you sound like you want to buy it so go ahead and buy it. but for a few more dollars you could have a way more powerful longblock from dss or chp. but then you will get hooked like the rest of us, and youll have to replace clutch, tranny, and anything else stock on the car when you blow it all out with the extra hp :D

I know the fever you speak of, my brother has it and I am starting to get it. but I am a offroader at heart but have alway loved mustangs and I just want a daily driver car that will out run most stock to mild imports on the road and some V8's too. I wish I had the money and time for a stroker kit and to rebuild my engine but I just don't have the time. Like I said this is my daily driver but I just want to get a little more power out of her. Plus having the benefit of saying to someone when I sell it that I have put a brand new crate motor from ford in it. And this motor seems to be what I am looking for so I think that I will be happy with setup for now. I also have one question my brother had a 1998 cobra that was stock. I want to know would I have been able to out run him with my new motor. Because if I just come close to that kind of power I would be happy.

If you think the horsepower bug is gonna bite you really hard then .............

You don't have to BUILD anything with this method.

Buy a built short block from Coast and BOLT on your choice of heads and intake. Heck, I bet they will even supply it with your choice of cam.

Yes, it will set you back more than the gt40 crate motor but .....................

It will give you a bigger smile when you mat the skinny pedal.

i have a frpp 302 crate w/ 340bhp -e-cam, gt40x's, trick flow track heat w/ 1in spacer, frpp 65mm tb, prom 80, 24lbs, full exhaust, mallory hifire IV ignition-coil-dizzy-wires, 3.73's, brembos all around, and d&d viper spec t56. the car ran low 13.3's on street tires with the old t5 (before i broke it). i have beat the hell out of this engine and its held up pretty well. i hate the cam in it though. if you get this engine do not use this cam, swap over to something that is known to work with 94-95's computers. i have major computer issues because of this cam. check out steeda's #19 cam, that is one of the few cams you can have with our computers. i am looking to get a new computer management system (tweecer r/t, pms, aem, fast) i dont want to do this because its so expensive, but its a must if i want my car to have any street manors at all. too many hiccups! everyone else is right though, you can get a better engine/set up for the same or less money if you shop around. use the search button and combo section to check out what others have chosen to run and make your decisions from there.
