about to order new shocks and struts...but which ones?

i'm not really worried about being able to adjust them being that i don't want to spend the extra money usually required for a set. but i don't want some crappy ones either. i've been reading reviews on a couple, and i'm kinda torn between getting the kyb gr-2 shocks/struts/quads package from 50resto for $260 + shipping or spending extra for some tokico HP shocks/struts for $230 + another $90 for some kyb quads. i don't have any experience with either one; are the tokico's worth the extra dough? if not either of these, what do you guys recommend? i'm willing to spend $350, MAYBE $400, and i want quad shocks. thanks for any input.

Tokicos

Of the ones you mentioned I'd go with the Tokicos. The KYBs are junk. The guy I bought my stang from put KYBs on 3 months before I bought it and it still rides like crap. I am replacing them in the spring with Bilsteins. I've had Bilsteins on my Cobra and my GT and they are worth every penny...once you have had them, nothing else comes close.

If I were you, I'd just go the extra $100 and get the Bilsteins, but Tokicos at the very least.

i have the UPR chrome moly uppers and lowers. these ones...

i also have UPR full length subframe connectors, torque box reinforcements and new maxspeed springs waiting to go on. do you think i'll still need the quads with these arms?

depends

Depends on how good of shocks you have. If you run stock, KYB or some other low buck $, yes you will still need quad shocks. If you run a good quality (usually expensive) shock you will definately not need quads.

You definately wont need quads with Bilsteins.

I have no experience with the Tokicos, just know what I have read. The complaints I have heard are that they don't last. People have had to replace them after just a few years. The Bilsteins have a lifetime warranty (although I doubt you will need it.)

stangsuspension.com has the full set of 4 Bilsteins for $500. I've got mine in the garage ready to go on in the spring.

Yes they are expensive, but I think it's money well spent. You have lot of money in other good suspension mods in your car and they would tie it all together for ya.

Just beware that all Mustangs are different, while some Guys can get away without having Quad Shocks, other Guys no matter what Control Arms are on will still need them. Good Luck in experimenting!!!

I have Bullitt Struts, Shocks, and Springs on my Stang, the Struts and Shocks are Tokicos!

It's hard for me to believe just how bad the KYBs are. I just can't believe how horrible the ride is with shocks and struts less than 3 months old. I mean, I wonder if they are even as good as the stockers were when new.

My 89 GT had Tokico Blues on it. The handling was great on a SCCA track and on the road. The car had a fairly harsh ride but I think that was because of the Steeda springs. It wasnt bone jarring, but not as smooth as the Bilstiens I had in my last Fox.
