ABS died

2000 v6 auto. The ABS light used to come on intermittently and disable the ABS and traction control (actually turns off the trax control, the button lights up). I've looked all over for loose wires, connection/plug contacts, wheel sensors, something broken and can't find anything wrong. No error codes in the OBDII.

Now the ABS light comes on as soon as I start the car and always stays on.

Any ideas on where to start - what to look for?

I'm in MI and driving in the snow with this these features inop reminds me of driving my old Mustang II...

...but I forgot how I used to stop in the snow.

IIRC, the ABS computer has its own trouble codes. I'm not sure how to recover them- maybe there is help online. Your symptoms suggest a failing componant or a loose wire somewhere, and maybe the trouble code will tell you where to look.

My daughters 2001 had same problem.If you get abs codes and find no communication-call a place named modulemasters on internet.Can rebuild module for
a.b.s.-common problem with broken wires in module.www.modulemasters.com. Cost 200.00

So my girlfriend's stang is doing the same thing. When the abs light is on, the abs is deactivated? And also, the abs and traction control are linked? This doesn't seem like a safe situation at all.
