abs light on

i havent done anything yet with it.im in the process of getting the abs scan tool to find out which wheel is setting off the abs light.one of my friends told me try cleaning the senors out to see if the senors are dirty?

Check engine lite .check all fuses with car running.under dash and engine compartment.check your owners manual for relay location .if the red brake light is also on will help with diagnostic

the ABS system generates its own trouble codes, and for the most part the system isn't designed to be worked on by anyone other than a professional. If you're able to tell which wheel is causing the light (assuming a wheel sensor is the problem), you might be able to tell if the sensor is dirty or bent, or if its wire is broken.

Most of the time an ABS problem is a bad/dirty wheel sensor.

Most auto parts stores will read DTC codes for free. Have you done this? It does take an advanced ODB2 scanner to read ABS codes. The auto parts store may be using an advanced scanner capable of reading the codes.

Want know until you try.

Without the DTC codes, it is just guessing (unless you want to check all 4 wheel sensors).

abs problems

hi, i have the abs scan tool and cant get an connection.i was told to check the fuses, which i did.in the summer i had cleaned all wheel senors and still no connection with the system.the scan tool works cause i tested it on another car.i dont what else to do from here.thanx for your help.:SNSign:

Please confirm the model year of your car. The original post does not state.

Please confirm so that I can understand. Does your scan tool talk to the ABS sensors of other Mustangs? If so, which MY does it work with?

Because if you are saying the fuses are good and the ABS module will NOT communicate, then then only other real option is a new ABS module.

Before replacing, check the electrical connector at the ABS module to be sure it is clean and free of corrosion.
