I have a quick question, can i just remove the AC compressor clutch from the compressor and pop on a new one? As my luck is turning from bad to worse, my AC died today, and I deduced it down to the magnetic lining of the clutch deteriorating.

Yes you can. Of course, it depends upon the year and model of the car on how to do it.

good writeup on changing th ac clutch Elusive! I did mine 3 yrs ago and the biggest problem I had was the snap ring pliers. I started with a set that was angled, then I bought a set that was straight. The straight ones from Autozone wouldn't open up the ring large enough so I cut out some of the inside material of the pliers and they opened up great then. Yea, the hardest part is that inside snap ring, real pain in the butt. I did the loan a tool from Autozone for the AC tools, it was a big help. Good Luck!!!
