I have heard this noise lately...I will cut the ac on and after a few seconds I hear a thud coming from what sounds like the firewall/dash area. I didn't bother me at all for a while but today it was a thud that I could feel. any ideas? I did a visual inspection and could see nothing wrong and the AC is super cold as usual. Maybe a midget stuck in my vent?

It's the a/c compressor engaging and disengaging.

Mine is also loud enough that you can sometimes feel/hear it engage.

it sounds almost like those, and excuse my non-education terminology, flapper doors are opening or closing real hard

Could be the damper door. Mine does the same thing.

Speaking of AC noise whenever I have mine on it sounds like I have a supercharger installed lol, I get a whine that gets louder as the engine RPM's increase .. Should I be concerned? The AC works great otherwise, It's been doing it since I bought the car last year with 59K miles, 2000 GT.

Mine's done that since new. I hear it when i drive with the A/C on and the windows down (a waste i know but i like the cool breeze effect)
