AC not cooling that well

Hot weather and I noticed my 2005 GT's AC is not cooling well. Mornings it is okay, but when it is really hot outside in Houston, it blows and blows but never gets really cold. I expect it is a feon issue, or whatever they use these days. I think I have days left on my one-year basic warranty and plan to put it in the dealer's tonight. Anybody else have this problem? Otherwise, my car has been trouble free.

I haven't had a similar problem with mine after a year, and I have a 'vert. You're right in getting it to the dealer. A/C is covered by the warranty, and they should be able to make it right.

Is it a hard top or vert?
I have heard of verts being hard to keep cool.

Also, are you in heavy traffic?
You have to be moving 30+ mph or so for the ac to work well.

My '02 mustang GT came with a Freon leak from the factory. They added a UV dye to the Freon and found the leak. (A small hole in one of the lines) It was covered under the 3/36,000 warrantee.

I live in Phoenix, so that problem was a major issue for me.
Nothing actually wrong with the A/C, just to damn friggin hot here (I believe its 108 degrees out right now!)

Anyway, what I did was go to Home Depot, and went to their plumbing section. You'll find foam pipe insulation there. Grab enough to cover your A/C line and use zip ties to hold it in place about every 3-5 inches (not too tight, or you'll lose the insulation properties of the insulation). When choosing the diameter of the insulation, I just did a cutout with some paper to get the right fit.

I did this last summer and noticed a significant improvement in how quick the A/C cooled down the car. I've had it insulated for over a year now with no issues to speak of.

I just bought a used 05 GT coupe and have noticed this as well...at night it is fine but during the day it just doesnt seem to blow cool...The 2003 GT I traded in use to freeze me out, I would have to let the windows down it got sooooo cold. Im in south FL and its around 93-96 degrees now with 100%humidity... I have a 7 year 100k mile warranty, I guess i better get this checked out.

Ditto. I need to get mine checked- my '02 GT would chill your joints to the point of aching, and it still does (friend owns it and I took a ride with her yesterday). The '06 is only cold if I put my hand against the vent.

I'm originally from Denver, and personally, Phoenix is definitely not my cup of tea.

Plan on moving to California sometime next year.

Once the inside of the car is cooler than the outside temp, push the recirculate button. That causes the a/c to pull air from inside the car instead of the hotter outside. The a/c can only lower the air temp about 18 degrees per pass, so If its sucking in 108 deg air the best you can hope for is 90 deg at the vent.

Then it should get cooler since the same air is being cooled over and over.
