I bought a used throttle body, it’s an accufab 75m for my 93 Gt. After using it for a while , I adjusted the idle a little bit. Then I noticed the throttle sticking when my foot was off the gas. I took everything apart and cleaned it. I noticed a few small scratches inside the throttle body near the pivot point. I unscrewed the plate and cleaned around the outside of it with light sand paper to smooth it out. I installed it back onto the throttle body and no more sticking. I just don’t know if maybe I took off to much and if that could mess with the performance of the throttle body. I emailed accufab 3 times before doing it but didn’t get a response and figured if it was bad, I’d need to replace it anyways. I haven’t put it back into the car yet. Just wondering if anyone would or has done this before.

I have gt40p heads redone don’t know specs
Trick flow stage 1 cam
Tubular Gt 40 intake
24 lb injectors with mass air sensor
1.7 rockers
Longtubes with Mac pro chamber
A few other things but nothing major.

Why would it be to much?

I wouldn't sweat it. As long as the throttle is working mechanically, you should be fine.

Anytime you adjust the idle stop screw, you'll want to perform the idle reset procedure however. The IAC should control idle, not the screw

What size opening does your tubular GT40 intake have? TB should match that opening. A TB that is bigger than the intake opening is pointless. I have a 70mm BBK TB collecting dust......

Over the years I've had a Ford Racing throttle body, Accufab, Professional Products and BBK.
I like the quality and performance of the Accufab the best followed by FRPP, BBK and Pro Prod.

I've got a 70mm SVE and it works fine. It whistled like some of the BBK's do, but a little smoothing of the IAC ports with a dremel took care of that. Not sure why you need a $300 throttle body when a $150 one does exactly the same thing . But buy what you like.

I was told that for the tubular TB opening it would be a 70? How do I make sure of that

Greetings Rich,
You mentioned your running GT40P heads and Longtubes with Mac pro chamber. Can I get the info on the long tubes. I'm the 68 Coup stuck in da stable with a 90 5.0, GT40P heads, T-5 clutch cable set up.

Do you recall how close the plugs/boots were, 90-45deg boots? Was it a ball and socket? 3bolt flange gasket?

Sounds like I can look up MAC Long tube headers for a 93 GT? Should help to narrow down the search.

As a FYI to all. I called and spoke to a MAC tech rep sometime back. We talked for a good 10 min. He told me MAC doesn’t make P headers and doesn’t plan on it! I told him it’s all over the Internet with folks using them. He said he knew that, and some work good some don’t. He just had no answer for me with the exception that they DO NOT sell P long tube headers. At that time I knew I was in trouble.

I used p heads with long tubes and a couple plugs were a pain and really close to the header tubes on my 89 gt I'll use angled boots and insulators when I put them back on. I'm thinking fox headers are not going to work in a 68 chassis. Is that what your try'n to do?

Looking for a set of long tube headers for P heads in a 68 with the clutch cable set up/bell housing and preferred ball socket. Not trying to be to picky. Lol. The goal would be to mate up to the already existing ball and socket 2.5” exhaust.

The Fox headers ONLY worked for me in my 68 with the 90 FE Heads and clutch cable set up. Yes I had to grind drivers side header flange almost to nothing and hammer in a tube as they hit the steering box. I was quite surprised. Then I ran across a 90 H-pipe and the 90 H pipe fit nicely under the 68 directly to the 90 headers as previously stated in my “Stuck in da stable” thread. It’s a bit misleading as I’ve been talking about GT40P Heads which I’ve just upgraded along with the Explorer upper and lower. Oh and yes some Scorpion 1.7 rollers. I’m starting to ramble. I’ll shut up, sit down and hang on. Lol.

Have you inquired over in the classic forums here? I would think that someone has done this setup before although you won't find LT headers for p heads.
