Adding headers soon and need ideas

I have a 1969 coupe with a 302.Right now it has the old rusty looking exhaust manifolds bleh.In the future I wanna add some headers but the catch is I want some that i wont have to do any modding under the hood to get them to fit.I'm gonna replace all the pipe and mufflers to so the length etc dont really matter.


Yeah I'm a new builder with alot of questions sorry.

I'd go with some decent long tubes if you are going to completely change the exhaust

since i have almost no ford knowledge, all i can say is go with ceramic coat. they stay looking good for a long, long time.

Any Mustang parts vendor will sell headers that will fit. I have Tri-Y's and the only modification I had to do was dent the collector a little so the pitman arm could rotate all the one in one direct.

My car is fairly low, yet my try-y headers tuck up nicely and don't drag. They also give me lots of starter clearance and go in from the top with no fuss at all. A buddy has long tubes and it's a squeeker getting them in there and he doesn't have the ground clearance I do. Mine are Patriot headers with the ceramic coat and while the fit well, with any headers you need a drop for the steering ram.

Thanks for the tips.I've been doing some searching and found a few long tubes that only modding you suppose to have to do is adding a lowering bracket.

Tri-Y is just a header design. I have JBA Tri-Y headers ceramic coated and the pitman arm is hitting the driver side one.

I would try Ford Powertrain Applications, the are a little pricey but fit without modification
