I have already done a search and looked at some info on other sites, but did not see any info on reducing the bass to the existing speakers when adding subs to the Mach 460 system. I had subs in a car that I drove back in the late 80's. I had a crossover to adjust the bass, midrange, and highs. A couple of friends recently had subs tied to there stock systems and the installer put bass blockers on the stock speakers. Has anybody installed a crossover or bass blockers? I was thinking the Mach 1000 probably had a crossover that reduced the bass to the rest of the system, but didn't know for sure.

Thanks,
Anthony

well, on any car that has stock amps you should completly ditch those before adding a new amp/subs.

but, if you dont want to do that:
buy an adapter that converters hi-level to low-level output, then install the system. i know best buy has them for like 40 bucks. that should work.

Thanks for the reply. I am happy with the Mach 460 so I didn't want to rip it out. I wish it had more bass. It starts to distort cranked up. I will check out Best Buy.

You could install some bass blockers/ speaker savers, they go into the positive wire after the amp and before the speaker, you can get these wires in the back area underneath the decklid in the amp rack, this is also where you grab the wires for your level converter to add a amp and sub, if i remember correctly the wires are black with white and black with green i don't remember which one is pos and neg though i will have too look it up, good luck and let me know if you have more questions Dan

Thanks for the info. I am getting ready to install gears next week. So it will probably be a while before I install a sub. Post the wiring info if you happen to come across it. At least I will have all the info I need when I get started.

you can adjust that with a quality aftermarket headunit(pioneer or alpine)
