along with my t-5 install i put in a new UPR adjustable firewall adjuster, aluminum quadrant and new cable. well with it ran almost all the way in the car does not want to go in gear when im driving. sitting still its ok but still notchy as hell. it also the clutch engages about 1/2 inch off the floor...sux because my clutch is not forgiving..

will backing out the firwall adjuster give me smooth shifting?...the tranny only has 8k miles on it. shifted awsome in the car it was in...so i know its good....

to add to Aaron's thoughts: i like to dial out all the slack, then adjust accordingly. some guys like a smidge of preload on the TOB, some dont. but being at zero cable lash gives you a known starting point.

(BTW, you are gonna remove slack from the cable to adjust it so it shifts better).

good luck.

also if the firewall adjuster is open as far as it can go and it still wont engage, then u have to adjust it at the fork. you will need two pairs of pliars and maybe some locking pliars or adjustable clamp to grab the cable as u tighten the nuts.

along these lines, if your quadrant has multiple hooks, you might need to swap the cable to a different hook.

good luck.
