adjustable vs. non-adjustable

It looks like I'm getting the Steeda quick release quadrant and since I need to put in a firewall aduster I was thinking of replacing the cable as well. Since I'll have it apart I'm sure it can't be much harder to swap out the cable. What does the adjustable cable do? Would I need it if I went with the firewall adjuster?

A lot of people say to use only the stock cable with adjusters. I still have my stock one with my STeeda double hook and firewall adjuster.

It's not required.
