Im having a problem with adjusting my cable slack for my clutch. Ive read forums and chiltons on how to set the self adjusting clutch but it seems like theres a little too much slack in the cable still. I even got up under the dashboard and released the pawl manually. Is there Any suggestions of is some slack okay in the cable? The slack is too the point where the cable can come off the lever attached to the throwout bearing. Is this ok?

It's not ok. Consider that your cable might be stretched. If renewing a cable, it's not a bad idea to replace the OEM quadrant/pawl with an aftermarket quadrant and FWA..
