My recent discovery of multiple rust problems with the trunk and rear frame rails has lead me to the conclusion that I not only need to minitub the 65 but also replace the frame rails. I am contemplating having some 2 by 3 rectangle tube mandrel bent to make new frame rails and then building a four link with coilovers (when I have the money, but it will be cheaper than completely rebuilding the stock suspension). I need to know what the advantages of a setup like this are. How does it hook up better than the leafs and shocks? If anyone has any suggestions, let me know, thanks

The rear 4 link w/coilovers are leaps and bounds better than the stock set up, for tunablility; if you don't know how to tune the suspension it is something you WILL have to learn. Once tuned it will give you much stronger launches improving the 60' times which lowers over all ET. The car drives much straighter & seems more predictable, IMO.

It will cost you in the pocket book so if you are making average power or don't have a goal of squeezing every last bit out of the car, than IMO don't waste the time or money. You know you can go 9's w/the stock suspension... it all comes down to tuning.

a 4 link with coil overs is not going to be cheaper than rebuilding the stock suspension.

Leafs, shocks, and caltracs can be had for less than $800.

I am actually getting ready to install a 4 link in my car for adjustability. I am going to be selling all of my rear suspension components. They are brand new, with zero miles on them. If you are interested, let me know. I could be one step close to my 4'bar'. The parts I am selling are NOT STOCK.

I have to replace the frame rails too. I think I am going to have some bent up instead. If I can find someone to do it, they will cost substantially less than stock replacements. Overall, by the time I replace the framerails with stockers so I can put in new leafs and shocks, I can replace the whole setup (all of which is bad) with new coilovers. Summit sells a setup for 435 bucks to do the coilovers. I can fabricate a four link setup. From what research I have done, I can do the whole setup for about a hundred bucks more. Plus I like the idea of the ride height adjustments easily available with summits setup. It will be much better, and much cheaper to do the suspension this way now rather than replace everything now and do it again later. I guess if you are offering a resonable deal on the old components on your car (allcarfan) then let me know the specs and the price, my email is saxboy22004@yahoo.com. thanks all
