What shall I do?
So I'm driving and I hear a loud tick all of a sudden. I take the top end apart and find a broken roller lifter retainer. I remove the roller lifters and find one that is broke. Today I decide to finally do my cam swap. I for some reason can't get the cam out at all. I finally get it loose and there is a mangled cam bearing that comes loose with the cam. I hear a loud tink in the oil pan. The cam still will not come out after an hour of trying. You can see the mangled cam bearing. Two questions:
1. What does it take to do the cam bearings.
2. Is it worth it to fix.

The block a year old but it was a cheapo autozone type short block. What do you guys think?

Thanks

that really blows, and truthfully you're kinda screwed. the motor is going t0 have to go into an engine shop to get the cam bearings redone. If one is jacked up, imo i'd have them all done. Not sure if you're gonna be able to give them a short block, but i'd be willing to bet they're gonna want to have it bare, which means you're essentially looking at another motor rebuild.

IMO, I'd swap in a good used motor. shouldn't cost you more than $400ish for a used 5.0 mustang motor, or a 96-01 explorer motor with the gt40 gear for a little more.

then take the time and learn to rebuild your original block yourself.
