Okay so as a project, I've decided to build a 302 or 351. I'll be building it all myself (want the learning experience). I fully expect it to take a year or two to complete - my goal is 350hp NA (FI, no carb), and my budget is $4000 (over a couple years).
So I'm going to start from step one. Which block should I choose? I want more displacement than a stock 302 - so should I be looking at a 351 block? Or should I do the 302/306 and stroke it? What are some advantages and disadvantages to each? Which block and casting would you recommend and why?
