Okay, After watching the boxing match on the 302 computer on a 408, I have some questions, but this is another can of worms, and I haven't boxed in some years, so here goes.

My car is a 1993 4cyl roller(no engine harness) that I bought and still have plans for a 408 in it. I purchased a wrecked 1996 e150 cheap for the motor, got all the FI wiring , computer, etc.

I suck at fuel injection. I am an old school carb guy and that's all I've ever used.

My question is... Is the OBD2 efi from the van worth trying to make work on the 408, or should I chunk it all and slap a super victor with a big nasty holley on it? (or other options?)

Oh, and this car doesn't have an efi fuel system, it was set up for carb with a holley pump, and the pump in the van is dead.

I've heard all the crap before about how terrible it is to have a fox with a carb, yeah, ok. I get it. I just need some honest, feasable opinions.
Which way to go?

Thanks fellas!

If you know carbs and can work with em, and you dont really care about fuel mileage i dont see why its a problem. You will get mostly EFI is better opinions on this forum because its mostly latemodel guys with EFI.

If the car is set up for a carb and you know how to tune it, id say leave the carb and stick with whats familiar

This was my first inclination, and probably the best advice. I'm also thinking what to do if I want forced induction later, being a weiand 8-71 with a pair of carbs on it just ain't feasable.

Thanks for the input.

That makes the most sense to me. Knee jerk reaction would be to suggest finding a 5.0 Mustang wiring harness and putting it in the 4cyl car, but if it's already gutted and modified for carb, you're probably easier off going carb.

EFI is MUCH easier to learn on if you already have an EFI car.

The carb will be easier to trouble shoot too. If you develop a surging idle with these cars, it can be nothing short of a nightmare... and with alot done to the motor, you probably will have idle quality issues

Go carb. If you already have it and already understand it, problem solved. This is mostly an EFI board, so thats the answers you're probably going to get, but you cant go wrong with a carb IMO

I agree with what the guys are saying about, stick with what ya know & roll with it but, If you are looking to chalenge yourself, go for the fuel injection. Its going to be expensive to start from scratch with all the parts you would need to convert it back to EFI though. I would think a harness from a fox might be a better staring point & the A9P or A9L EEC. I guess it would depend on the cars purpose. Mine is mainly going to be a track car & I have the TWEECER RT to tune with. I also just installed summits knock off version of the victor intake that I converted to fuel injection. I dont have it up and running yet though. just a matter of how YOU chose to build your car I guess.
