I know until you get above 60 Aerodynamics don't really matter much, BUT, for those of us that do quite a bit of highway driving, I was wondering what kinda thing can i look for to improve it? I want to keep the spoiler, i'm modding the motor, putting in 3.73's, and emptying out some of what i can. Which brings me to the aerodynamics game. I don't want a wild bodykit, cuz that seem like it would just create drag. I know that the front lips would probably help, right?

How about the two plastic things under my car? They curve a little as they reach the sides. They are in the front under the motor and hang down. I think they are supposed to keep depris down from the road. My buick had one big one all the way across. Wouldn't this help wind flow also?

Finally, i think i've found something not so talked about on these threads!!!

lowering the car should help cut the wind flowing under the vehicle lifting the front end causing drag. also steeda has a race wing the they say is funtional wich i would assume creates down force the help plant the car to the road better. I think

The blakc plastic thing under the front of the car is to push air up and past the radiator, the two pieces on the side of the big black plastic piece have no function other than cosmetic that I know of. Some body kits are made to improve aerodynamics, others are for looks only. There used to be a company that made claims of 2-3mph gain in the 1/4 on cars going over 110mph with the use of their front and rear bumpers. A few knock offs have been made of the rear bumper cover for the fox GT's that you've probably seen around, they call them aero bumpers and such.

there is only two kinds of functional spoilers. the cobra R spoiler kind and the 03' Cobra kind. they both make the air pass over the top and push down creating force over the back of the car. as for body kits, the best one that i know of is the saleen kit. they make that functional as best anyone can. the front has inlets to cool the brakes. the rear comes down farther than stock to reduce drag. lowering your car will produce less drag b/c less air is traveling under the car. thats why all the supercars are like a 1/4" from the ground....

I would think that Steeda wing(or any really) would just create more drag, if it's pushing you down more, it has to be catching more air in order to do so. The body kits I can see working, at least the front and back parts, but aren't a lot of them just add ons that add weight too? The saleen seems pretty appealling. I don't know how much i would want to lower my car either. The roads round here (Chicago) really are terrible and I could gaurontee i would be scraping all the time. Shoot, I already have a big old dent in my Hpipe!

Cervini's Stalker rear bumper is solid underneath so that it tucks right up to the gas tank. Our stock bumpers have a huge gap on the underside that catches air and increases drag. That bumper supposedly reduces the drag, but I dunno how much it really helps. The side scoops on our cars can't help either, but short of covering them up, there's not much you can do. Most body kits accentuate the scoops, or leave them as they are.

There isn't much that will make much of a difference on our cars. The best you'll get really is a custom fab air dam in the front and sides, cover the bottom with sheet metal and tape off every little whole, seam and crevice on the body. That's all they did to that 200mph open-road racing SN-95.

First take off the side view mirrors, then tape all of the body seams, lower it, add an air dam to the front, and then block off the radiator hole untill it starts to run too hot.

Those are the standard tricks, any mustang specific issues would be next.
