Aeromotive AFPR user advice please??

I'll be changing the fp in the '90 notch this weekend with a Walbro 190. At 52K the oe pump is whining a little. Figure I'll throw in a reg at the same time.

I have an Aeromotive unit ($114 Summit) I bought for my SSP notch, but it wouldn't fit right on the rail.
It made contact with the EGR valve when trying to install it, so I ran up to my speed shop and got a BBK unit instead ...
Also, the vacuum nipple isn't in the factory location, so I'd have to buy a length of hose

My question: Has anyone had this same fitment issue with the Aeromotive regs

I'm hoping someone could give insight, so I only have to make one trip to the speed shop and will pick up another brand reg there if deciding to go that route.

Thanks :)

I have an aeromotive and it fits???? I've used the BBK and you might as will use that one. It's no big deal do modify a vacuum line. The BBK unit is really nice no sense in getting yet another one. The vacuum line should cost you under a $1.

I have an Aeromotive reg. and it does not clear the EGR.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same model though, and my intake setup is pretty oddball.

If you do find one that does clear please let us know

Good luck

What intake & tb/spacer are you running.
Are you using the EGR valve

I know the line is cheap and a fairly easy swap, but a little forethought on the design constraints from their engineer would same me a $1 for a hot dog or a coke :)

Nope, my Aeromotive fits even with my '93 cobra intake and the SN FPRs I think are a little bigger than the Fox FPR.

I just put an Aeromotive reg on my 91 5.0 with a gt-40 intake and it clears, but not buy much. After i had it on the rail and realized how close the vacume port was going to be to the EGR I was worried. I dont know if its true or not, but some one told me the Aeromotive reg. can be taken apart and turned to the next set of holes. I can definatley see where it might not fit with a different intake on.

I must say ... this is the most inconclusive thread of all time :nice:

My '90 is pretty much bone stock, so it has the tardtake and tb on there right now. Will this piece work ... it's just been sitting in it's box since I bought :damnit:

I don't know how the SN's relate structurally ... I've only owned foxes and haven't spent a lot of time poking my nose under the SN hoods

They're basically the same engine with only a couple small changes. like my ACT is in the intake tube not the lower manifold, the TFI coil is under the air box etc.

no....I'm just saying that my aeromotive regulator is a little different and might have a different fit then a regular one. It's not really off topic.

Is it possible that they sent you an SN95 regulator and that is why it doesn't fit? They're different. Maybe we should post pictures to see if everybody is talking about the same regulator. That is what were talking about....right?

Ahhh, got ya :nice:

It's a 3-bolt reg I bought, so I know it's for the fox fuel rail (2-bolt for SN's)

Again I haven't tried putting it on my '90 yet, but it wouldn't fit on my SSP ... maybe the rail is bent a little or what not  I haven't poked around enough to see, just figured I'd start this thread to draw a definitive conclusion before doing any hands-on investigation for myself ....

But as usual, more internet racing and less real world experience ...
