AFPR set too high?

When i put my new intake on I replaced the AFPR and put new orings and tips on my injectors (stockinjectors), I then set the fuel pressure at 40-41 vac off. the car feels ok but I'm getting some soot on the exhaust tips and bumper which seems worse than before. My old plugs were champion and showed lean white but car ran fine, now with autolights my plugs are good color but I wonder if I should turn FP down to 38#, guess what I'm askin is does 3-4 pounds difference really matter in terms of performance? Rest of fuel system is stock long block is stock with Typhoon upper lower.

From the research I have done, pressure you set with the vacuum off only affects the WOT fuel delivery in the long run. The ECU will compensate eventually for whatever pressure is set, to a point. Did you reset the ECU when you changed the AFPR and what not? Maybe try cleaning your MAF sensor and see if that helps.

Hello! I don't think you got a problem.You most likely are paying more attension to the air fuel mix cause you are working on that now.Unless you are seeing black smoke blowing out tail pipes don't worry.Pressure sounds about right for stock.If you plan to tinker with the fuel pressure you need to read up on how to adjust the adjustable fue pressure regulator you have for more acceleration.You won't see hp gains but will feel the acceleration is better when set optimal.You just don't set it and forget it unless it is stock setting and then why did you get it.
