I have 2 holes in the back of my heads (1 on each of course) and I ordered the motor with the heads already on it so I dont know if the heads usually come with rear plugs or not...

My question is what do I stuff back there, obviously its threaded but it seems an odd size. Any help on the size or what to use would be much apreciated thanks!

Not to steal the thread...(not any close Ford dealerships in my area) where can I buy those F4ZZ-6E086-A head inserts online?...

Also I ordered the smog equipped AFR 165 heads from FTI will they still come with inserts?

David

I just put on a set of AFR 165s about a month ago, the holes in the back are for the smog. What I did was take that pipe that was connected to the back of the stock heads (where those holes are) and put it back on the AFRs, but I plugged where the pipes join and come out at that larger round sensor "thingy". I wish I had a digital camera... I'd just take a pic.

Well its not that we don't have any Ford Dealerships...lol...its just I don't want to drive an hour to get a two dollar part...but if I have to I will...someone will post where to get them soon for us :nice:

Sgt.5point0 - Hmm...the previous owner did the smog pump delete and there is a pipe coming from the back of the passenger side head that leads (it appears) into two pipes that actually go into the head...is that what your talking about...

Thats the one... it should go right back in the same spot on the AFRs (if they're the smog legal ones). That pipe used to lead to another junction that went to the H-pipe (at least on mine it did).

So you can put that back on and plug the end of it, won't cost anything except maybe 1 or 2 pounds.

The ford dealer charges something like $8 apiece for those. I used the trickflow plugs on mine and I ordered it through summit for like $2. The trickflow part number is
TFS-51400265.

So the trickflows will fit the AFR's no problem...not to long or short etc...

That will be nice because I got to order some stuff from Summit pretty soon and I can just order that while I'm at it... :nice:

I just did the spark plug thing today, but I put alot of thread locker on it and some RTV sealant to make sure it won't leak any vaccum, i'm thinkin it will work great the way it looks right now. the threads on the spark plug are finer, but the ones in the heads are really corse, so it just digs itself into the spark plug finer threads and kinda taps it's own on them, but don't overtighten or else it will strip out the homemade threads on the the spark plug.

So the Trickflow part number head inserts #TFS-51400265 will work on AFR 165's... ...I'm guessing it would be the same threaded size since they both go in place of the old smog equipment...
