Ditto.... my Canfields are 215 cc. The TFS 3 cam is aggressive enough to warrant the 205s. If you were talking a 274 XE cam or something like that, it'd be a different story.
 
im not going to have to go to a solid roller set up am i guys? I just dont like the idea of having to to adjustments and spend 400 dollars more for a solid roller setup. Emw....what block are you running? Would my stock block hold up to this setup?

Stock block here. The Anderson Ford N-111 cam I run is a hydro-roller with stock Ford lifters also.I Shift at 7600. No problems. I replace the valve springs about once a year.

if you have to ask questions like you have been in this thread.. I dont think youre up for the task of building a 331 like this just yet..

research more and get a bit more knowledge.. you'll feel alot more comfortable throwing your money around.

or spend the money and send it out and go the custom route.

thanks for the recommendation but i think if i know the difference between a solid and hydra roller and i know the pros and cons of both and i know how to build it i think im plenty up to the take as i have built both b4 just never on a 302 based stroker they have been on big block and FE motors and i have already built the motor and it is running on a weaker setup right now!!!! Another thing.....how the HELL am i supposed to learn if i dont ask?

did not know you had engine experience.. just going from what I saw in the thread..

throw the 205's on there but spend the money on the cam..

having a head that flows to well is not going to hurt at all if you got the cam, correct size longtubes (many times overlooked), intake and the right drivetrain for it.

just like when people ask if 3inch exhaust is too large for a 5.0 :nonono:

i know the breaking point of the blocks..... rick isnt a solid roller setup around 400 more over the hydra roller? If it will save me money in the long run i will go with solid roller. I just see alot of my friends having trouble with solid roller setups

From what I have seen,a solid will only make you more power if its larger,or if the motor has a heavy valvetrain.

A hyd. roller with a light vavle train works great at high rpm's,it can compete with the solid,and it hands down will beat it in mid range power.
 
From what I have seen and been told by other guys in the industry a soild roller with the right lobe will walk all over a hyd set-up, sometimes worth 30-40hp. Technology has come a long way so the constant adj is long gone, and they can remain streetable.

The solid roller can be a little more expensive, but they are not much more.

Custom HYD roller $325 Custom BILLET Soild Roller $375
Stock HYD lifter $120 Aftermarket HYD lifter $460
Soild Roller lifter $270-$400 depending on brand
 
Yes,but thats what Im saying,a solid roller will make more power because its larger.If the two cams are aprox. the same size,the hyd. will beat it untill the point of lifter collapse,or vavle float.But,I have seen were runing a slight amount of lash with a hyd. roller will increase its rpm range.

So,basicly,unless you need lots of lift and duration,then stick with the hyd.,as you motor doesnt need a cam that large (say .650+ lift and +270* @ .050 duration,then you would need a solid roller) .

4.30 gear, stroker. Pretty sure it'll be alright. Also consider it's very lightweight.

Exaclty,the car will never see below 5500rpms at the track.

Need any more help let us know,and btw a 150-200hp shot will make that thing scream!Can you say mid-low 10's?
