AFR heads ajust guide plates?

I am in the process of adjusting my guide plates on my AFR 165 cc heads. They have 7/16 studs and I am using Scorpion 1.6 RRs. The part I am not sure about is does the pushrod run against the guide plate at all times? Or does it rotate back and forth from one side of the guide plate to the other? I adjusted to have the roller tip centered on the valve tip with equal clearance on both sides of the push rod. The problem is when I get one centered the other is off because the guide plate guides two valves.

The giude plates you have are the ones I used to have. I didn't like them for the very same reason. I went and bought a set of lunati guides i beleieve. They are a single guide for each pushrod. They also have a teflone bushing the pushrods run thouh so there is no metal to metal contact. Much better IMO.

I wonder how critical this adjustment actually is? I was thinking about cutting the guide plates in halfs and tack welding them together.

I did find some adjustable ones through Summit: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=ISK-200-AGP&autoview=sku
