AFR's question

is it a good idea to gasket match these heads. i guess i am just curious.

I am assuming your talking about the lower intake gasket to the head...I used the Fel-1250 and it pretty much is matched right to the head...you might have to make a snip here and a snip there...make it a clean install...

Good Luck

It's a good idea to gasket match ANY heads.

I disagree.

I wasnt about to grind my $1300 heads to match a $20 gasket.

the heads are designed to flow, gaskets are designed to seal.

I did however trim any gasket material the was blocking any of the ports, as mentioned above.

No I was meaning cutting the heads to match the gaskets. And I do believe if your intake port matches your gasket which matches your intake it will flow better between the the too. Same as with the exhaust. AFR sells the gaskets that match their ports for both exhaust and intake. I was asking because my victor jr. intake is already matched to felpro #1250 i believe. Now if i bought a set with the gaskets i would match the intake to it if i am not already to big. Sorry didn't mean to start a small argument. I know these heads flow great and i didn't want to make the mistake of porting them.

I stand corrected...we weren't argueing...I assumed and I was wrong...

Actaully port matching does VERY, VERY LITTLE that is info from top head porters.

The AFR's are a 1250 gasket size, if the intake sits too high on the head (meaning when you look in the intake you can see the bottom of the head port sticking up past the intake) you can mill the intake to bring the ports closer to alignment. Always trim your gaskets to keep them out of the ports.
