After 8 months, Im finally gonna fix my TO bearing problem...

Ok, this is what I figure it wrong. Somehow, the clutch calbe it too short, thus preloading the TO bearing. I blame my buddy who had it before me and I remember him saying that he adjusted the cable. Then when i got the car and went to fix it I found out that they werent adjustable.

Well my question is what all will I need and what brands do you reccomend? I am going to change the cable, and TO bearing and whatever else bearins are in there. (What are they again?) And i want a cable with a firewall adjuster and an adjustable quadrant (I think Ive heard Steeda makes the best ones)

So any help is appreciated.

Were I doing it again I'd get: an OEM style non adjustable cable, Fiore quad and Fiore FWA.

I'd replace the TOB (Ford), have an input bearing shaft retainer on hand in case you need it. Also if you deal with the clutch itself, a new pilot bearing and RMS are good. A fork and pivot ball are optional.

Ok, so get an OEM non-adjustable cable and a firewall adjuster? Where can i find that brand you are reccomending? A simple google search turned up nothing.

im a big believer in when you change one thing change everything with it, thus the TOB, pilot bearing, clutch the whole nine yards. if you cant find that FWA and quadrant.... Pro Motion out of florida makes a really good, plus the last i heard theres is patented. i would go with a non adjustable cable. I agree with hissin, fork and pivot ball optional.

the clutch, press plate, etc arent even a year old. So Im not worried about them.

make sure you grease the throwout bearing or it will squeek like mine does, I changed it and forgot to grease it

MM has a nice SN95 cable - I'd likely go there.

If you did a clutch kit recently, you likely did the Pilot bearing and RMS, right? You have to remove the clutch components to access both (so most folks do the Pilot and RMS when doing a clutch replacement).

I'd get a Ford TOB from whereever you can find one.

i used a frpp king cobra clutch kit, and my TOB starting squeaking about a month afterward. I bet they use a different part then the oem one. Like said above, definitely go with a FORD factory TOB, as far as a cable, i went with the FRPP cable/quadrant kit, which has a threaded end on the clutch fork for adjustment, and because i am lazy, i got a firewall adjuster(which you really don't need if you want to jack up the car)

Anyhow, long story short, after 2 years my tob still seems to be intact, even though it would squeak once and a while....To fix that i bought some "motorcycle" chain lube...seems strange BUT works great because its designed to cling on under high rpms....and it works.

I knw my buddy had a king Cobra Pressure Plate in his shop and put that in, you think maybe thats causing it?

And my TOB is BAD. You can hear it in this clip RIGHT before I start to go. It has since gotten worse.

I have heard to sue the ford factory TOB, but when I did my KC 2k miles ago I used the one it came with...

As for the fiore quadrant and FWA, I used them based on the suggestions here and it is really really nice stuff...

Don't overlook the TOB retainer... It is only like $30 or $40... not worth going back in for or to have the TOB retianer ruin the TOB... Just gotta make sure you get the cobra one since it is steel rather than aluminum like the factory GT retainer...

I can get that at any major parts store right?

And what about the pilot bearing? Think I need to change that too?

But in the post above that: you will have to order a steel bearing retainer online. They go for about 40 bucks.

I jsut went to Oreileys and ordered the cable for like $25 compared to the $100+ all the online places want. I get like a 40% discount because a good family friend is a mechanich and lets us use his acct.

Now Im ordering the quad and FWA you suggested, then Ill find the steen TOB and call it a day.

I got my steel TOB retainer from Summit. You can get it from almost anywhere, jsut specify you want the one for the 94-95 cobra..

All i could find on summit were ones with a steel sleeve but the other part was aluminum.
