aftermarket 2v heads, never.

To me these 2vs aren't that bad. I'm doing the N/A thing with a goal of 300+rwhp. When you think of it thats around 360+crank hp. That's 100hp over the stock engine and cheaper then going FI. I will have a completely built car from suspension up to the engine for less then the cost of buying a SC kit.

Actually the 2v isn't that bad at all but where they start looking weak is when you start comparing them to stock LS1s. Sure you can make the CI to Power ratio but on the street and at the track it usually comes down to what you run not how efficient it is. My old car as far as 2v cars went was very fast for what it had done. I had an absolute blast with the car and would do it again BUT on any given night I could run a 12.2 on slicks and the guy next to me with a bolt on LS1 and DRs would be running next to me/flying by me or a stock LS1 with the bottle on stock tires.

I've had this discussion in other places about just how long with the 2v stick around. I'm sure it won't completely disappear but I see it being like the old Cleveland 351 engines. Some day it will be just a handful of people that stick by them while the masses move onto the latest and greatest or the most readily available (SBF or 4v modulars).

I'm thinking there might be a 400hp 5.0 4v coming for the 2010 GTs. Now that would be awesome if it's true.

2v is just a bastard motor any way you look at it.

They can be fun, they can make respectable N/A power, but it just takes alot of work and money.

They are great in terms of reliability, smoothness, tunability, and even do well in the gas mileage department. They just don't put out when it comes to making big numbers without nitrous, turbo, or supercharged applications.

after seeing darkside's similiar thread on Modular Fords and talking with my teacher at my school, my money's on Trick Flow to come out with the heads. Hell, they already have the entire valvetrain available through Summit's catalog and a kick ass intake. Cylinder heads would seem like a natural progression :nice:

if you read through that thread on mudular fords you will see that the modular depot rep is the one claiming that there will be a NEW 2v head displayed at SEMA in november and they heads should be available in about 6 months. I hope to god that its trick flow. there is also some claims of them flowing somewhere around 300cfm.

seriously, the day that Summit has them in stock, I'm going to the Sparks warehouse :nice:
