Guys Im going to be installing new front and rear conversion brakes this week sometime. Ive got an 84 with the stock front discs and rear drum. Ive got my eye on a setup from ______ and I dont know enough about brakes in general to spend 470$ on this setup here for the front.

http://www.discbrakesrus.com/make/ford/mustang.htm#brakerotors

The one I would like to get is described as "POWDER COATED 73 MM BORE CALIPERS WITH CROSSDRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS 11 inch AND S/S HOSE KIT-RED ". Now whats the difference between 73mm bore and 60mmbore calipers? I know the obvious difference but technicly what are the pros and cons besides price and size? Will a 73mm fit on my 84? Or is 73mm one of those overkill things?

When I convert the rear will I need to make any additions to the brake line as far as the fitings on it? With rear conversion discs what else will will I need?

you're throwing your money away with the cross drilled and slotted rotors, much better ways to spend you money. Fyi, certain cars from the factory came with 73 mm calipers, I think the lincoln mark 7's may have. Do a search on this, lots of info. I believe they fit just fine.

If you want an easy brake upgrade on your 84, just upgrade to the spindles and rotors from an 87-93 v8 mustang. that alone is significant. Add the 73mm calipers after that if you want. Honestly, for the optimum brakes at the best price, upgrade to sn95 94/95 mustang brakes front and back. Wrecking yards will typically sell to you about $75-100 per side for the fronts. you can upgrade further from there to the cobra 13 inch rotors and calipers. You'll have to get 5 lug though for your wheels.

honestly, that's a lot of dough for what I believe will be rotors you don't need and calipers you can get from a junkyard
