Aftermarket cdplayer in 01 GT w/6disc?

I have an 01 bullitt and want to change the 6disc out and put in an aftermarket cd player in. I was curious if I just need a mounting kit for the dash fit, or if I have to cut out the amplifiers in the rear of the car.

My old 98 taurus had the amplifier in the trunk and I had to go through h@ll to get an aftermarket cd in it.

I hate the quality of sound that this 6-disc produces with the mach 460, I just feel the sound could be fuller and more crisp.

Has anyone done this and what did it take?

If you by a 1.5 DIN sized aftermarket head unit then it should fit fine.. If youre going with standard sized head unit then you will need to either make your own or buy a dash installation kit to make it look good!

You shouldnt need to get rid of the factory amps unless you are going to install other amps and want to save the weight.

If you are going to hook your aftermarket head unit into the factory amp system then you will have to by the adapter. Scosche makes one..But I have discovered that the factory head unit sounds better with the factory system than an expensive aftermarket head unit sounds through the factory system!
